The Waikato Society of Potters welcomes new members all year round. By becoming a member you not only support the WSP in nurturing an inclusive pottery community for all, you also gain the following benefits:

• Access to the dedicated Members’ Open Studio Sessions. Typically there are an additional 5-7 Open Studio sessions per week.

• Discounted Play with Clay sessions.

• Further discounts for Members' Open Studio and PWC sessions when purchasing a Concession Card.

• Utilising our firing service for pieces made outside of classes and Play with Clay.

• Discounted class and workshop enrolments.

• Entry into the Annual WSP Exhibition at Arts Post.

• Membership events such as the Mighty Waikato Pottery Throw Down.

The WSP membership term is based on our financial year, so runs from the 1st of April to the 31st of March the following year. 

We offer a 12-month membership term running for the full year, or two 6-month membership terms, running from 1st April to 30th September and from 1st October to 31st March. We are not able to offer membership periods of less than 6-months.

Society objectives

(a) Encourage and help the Studio Potter in the pursuit of their art, craft or hobby

(b) Stage and/or participate in exhibitions of Ceramics for the benefit of members

(c) Assist and promote the activities of members and any affiliated bodies or sub-groups the Society may establish or represent

(d) Promote educational and scientific activities which may assist members

(e) Provide opportunities for such social contact which will further relationships between potters, other artists, and the general public

(f) Provide, wherever possible, short-term residency and use of the Society’s facilities to members who wish to proceed into a career in pottery.
